Trailer wiring connector under rear bumper (2013)?

I’m in the process of building my own class III/IV hitch for my 2013 Caprice and as I had the rear bumper cover off, I noticed that the female wiring connector for the license plate lights has eight pins but only two wires for power and ground (the male chassis side has all eight wires). Is it possible that the Aussie wiring had provisions for trailer wiring and the PPV simply received a stripped-down license plate sub-harness?

I searched all over the forum and even in the connector diagrams documents but I couldn’t find this particular connector. Any ideas?
