Removing radio
Re: Removing radio
Great Info Rizzo!! Thanks for posting!
Re: Removing radio
I'll be passing through Detroit in mid-May. I wish Chris could reprogram the radio and BCM while it's in the car and save me from this headache and likelihood of broken dash parts.

Re: Removing radio
Ok, the stars aligned for me to remove the radio. At home, in between projects, weather unseasonably warm and no need to drive the Caprice for month or so. BIG thanks to smwalker for the great factory diagrams and pictures. And to everyone else for contributing their pictures and experiences. My antenna plug was missing the press tab ahead of the "pivot point" to release the connector. I used an electronics screwdriver to sneak back and underneath the tab to free the connector. I was able to liberate the radio in 45 minutes. Thanks again!

Re: Removing radio
I had a dealership remove the radio and well they broke it so...
Re: Removing radio
What did they break? That antenna plug? Seems very common.Dtmhat wrote:I had a dealership remove the radio and well they broke it so...
Re: Removing radio
They didn't tell me exactly but i'm pretty sure that was it. Im going to post a long long post about how awesome the service at white auto is and all the shenanigans Ive had to deal with at 2 dealerships.
Re: Removing radio
All too common unfortunately. Seen this many times now with radios on eBay. There is one on there now with a broken antenna connector. They don't mention it in the ad but they do show a picture.smwalker wrote:What did they break? That antenna plug? Re: Removing radio
Lol. Since the radio is removed already, the console is likely in many broken pieces!CrashTestDummy wrote:That's a 9C3 with a console!!

Re: Removing radio
Yeah, that car has been used in ads over and over on EBAY for months. I could make money on that radar... lol.... Might ask them about the console via EBAY message though, if they took care in dismantling it might be on the shelf somewhere intact.
