2013 PPV - Intermittent Horn

Post by NovaPPV »

Hey guys, new owner here.

I've checked out smwalker's post about reconnecting the horn and a few other posts about the horn. I can't seem to find anybody else with a similar issue.

When I reconnected the horn, it worked fine...for a bit. Now it only beeps 1-3 times before doing nothing. I'll leave the car, come back 20-30 minutes and same thing.

The horn is the only thing I failed on VA's Safety Inspection.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thank y'all so much.

Easiest diagnosis would be to get down to the horn and probe into the positive wire. THen honk and read the voltage. Once the horn stops does the voltage drop as well? If no then the horn is the problem. If Yes then you got a wiring or even BCM issue.

Yeah its reading 12V until you push the Horn and then it goes all over the place, even down to 700mV.

No good...

What about the relay? Try swapping it with another one?

Problem solved. There were several frayed wires at and near the horn. Replaced and it fired right up. Thanks everybody.
