2014 9C3 thought it was an SS for a minute

Post by iefbr14 »

I parked my 2014 9C1 in temporary storage (meaning 2 weeks).

When I returned, I used the remote start to start the engine.
As I approached, I unlocked the car door using the remote.

As soon as I got in, the intrusion panic alarm (blowing of the horn on and off) activated. On other GM cars, this can be induced by locking the car with the remote, then using the key to enter. As soon as the door is open, the horn goes off. You stop it by starting the car, telling the anti-theft you do have a key and are not an intruder.

On my 9C1, inserting and turning the ignition key did not stop the alarm. I killed the engine and removed the key. The horn kept going. I relocked the car, then remote unlocked it, and started the engine. Finally it stopped.

The PPV catalog says the panic alarm is disabled....why would a cop use the panic alarm- they ARE the police.

Momentarily, my 9C1 thought it was a civilian car with a working panic alarm.

I have not be able to reproduce this.

I just mention this so people wont get confused but the 9C3 option was not offered in 2014. Was it? You got something special?

You're right. I checked the build sheet. I have a 9C1. I call it a 9C3 loosely because it is not black and white- it's Karma Metallic.

I've corrected my original post.

In a 2014 you can change the settings for alarm horn and lights in the MyLink options.
