The only connector I was concerned with was the one with the red bit on it on the right side of the picture.
That is the connector that plugs into the GM USB/3.5mm audio jack connector.
The connector alone from GM is around $100 which is crazy.

Hey Tom, Check out this posting on a corvette fourm:
http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c6- ... leted.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Is any of that relevant to our cars? Is that rectangular USB/3.5mm plug the same one you used? I do not think I have even seen a picture of the plug receptacle installed in the Caprices. Where did you put it? Center console?

Re: Radio - USB connection...
That usb/3.5mm receptacle is what I used... you can mount it in various places... glove box, center compartment, dash, etc.
None of the other info relates...
All aux. Wires have to be added to the Quadlock connector...

Re: Radio - USB connection...
Is there not a USB type cable that you could plug directedly into the radio and then have a USB cable basically sticking out of your dash that you attach whatever to? I can never find out what the back of the GM USB/ 3.5mm connector looks like to see?
Re: Radio - USB connection...
Tom I think I have found a source for a black face version of this AUX and USB plug. It goes by the old part number 25832462. They seem to be taking them out of overstocked buick center consoles. $15.00 shipped and I confirmed they are black in color.Tom Slick wrote:I'm going to pick up the receptacle, GM part # 20870101 tomorrow... It has a six pin connection on the back for the front aux 3.5mm stereo (uses 4 of 6, right, left, ground, switching), and a mini-USB for the USB...
They had the receptacle in the glove box, if I remember correctly...

Re: Radio - USB connection...
Could anyone give me guidance on how to wire in the USB port so that the dealership can update the radio? Radio is currently stuck in programming mode and is not changing. Battery disconnect reboots radio to same screen. Dealer wants a fortune to pull the radio.

Re: Radio - USB connection...
Fudge I hate to leave a new member hanging but please take my advise and stop what you are doing, take out the radio and send it to chris. The programming the dealers can do is not the same thing that Chris can do. And there is some suspicion that what they can do is potentially fatal to the unit.
I can send you a cable to plug in and program, but man I really don't want to if it is going to lead to the dealer messing up your unit.
But none the less instructions here in case you missed them: Build your own USB Cord
And just to reiterate, send it to Chris.
Good Luck!
Steve
P.S. Send it to Chris
