2011-2013 vs 2014-2017 trunk lid

Post by Rgt818 »

I am parting out one of my 2013 PPV and have someone looking for a trunk lid for his 2014. Getting mixed responses. Some say it will fit but key/lock for release is in different spot. Anyone know for sure if it will bolt up?

Thanks

Have you checked the part number between the two different lids? Same or different?

I believe that the 2014+ cars had the backup camera where the 2011-13's had the trunk lock. The trunk lock was moved up, in between the chrome garnish moulding and the gold bowtie.

And, I did retrofit the 2014+ camera into my 2011 trunk lid. No modifying required. Used the same chrome strip garnish. Added the factory trunk wire harness to the body. Availability of that harness is probably non-existent now, though.

So the 13 should work on the 14, just no hole for camera?

My 2014 trunk lid looks identical to the 11-13 models. I can't say it is 100% the same but it looks the same. In 2015 the US mandated back up cameras so the 15-17 moved the key hole up and put the camera in the trim where the keyhole was on the older models. I am not sure if any late model 14's got the back up camera or they didn't start until 15. Ask the seller if he has the backup camera and if not I would think it would work.

its very possible yes , though may have to stretch the stuff that goes into the key , since it will then be moved down several inches into the chrome trim spot

the 14 has 2 holes in the trunk lid , and the key is between the chrome trim and emblem , the camera hole is located behind the chrome trim , so its not clearly visible

I was wrong. My 14 does have 2 holes! I was curious myself so I went out to my car this morning. On the back side of the stamped panel there is a hole for the camera behind the trim plate. It is blocked off with a square piece of plastic. So looking at it I think a 13 panel would work on the 14 as long as they haven't retrofit a camera in it.
