Front bumper reinforcements

I replaced my front bumper cover on the '14 due to the holes from the pushbumper. Took it to the bodyshop, since it had to be painted and I don't do paint. So now it's waiting to go on, since I'm missing parts called the bumper reinforcement brackets and bolts. They apparently weren't on there when I brought it in. Trying to figure out exactly how this goes together on the fender attachment. I got a photo from one of the posts here, showing the "nuts" extend up from the bumper and go into holes in the fender. That photo is attached.

So the GM parts catalog lists a bolt, part 92264373,#3, a nut, part 92138829,#4, and a "reinforcement" which is part 92251330, #2, that looks like it has a bracket and two bolts and nuts. That photo is also attached.

I noticed my bumper has a threaded, hex shaped insert in it already. It doesn't extend up, though, it's flush with the top of the bumper.

Can someone help me out with the way these all bolt together? And should I be ordering just the bolts, or the whole kit? Where does the little bracket go, between the bumper and fender? All the parts are on backorder, two weeks eta. There's nothing being parted out that I can find anywhere close, I've got a couple of calls in to New York to see if they can pull them for me. Do I need the bracket? Can I just use some big washers and get the same effect until the parts come in? The body shop is getting a little upset with a low dollar job sitting there taking up space for three weeks just to install four bolts. I told them I'll pick it up as soon as it's done, but it's not my fault they didn't order the parts up front.

Any help on temporary attachment or how this actually goes together when the parts do arrive is appreciated. I'm thinking the bolt goes into the bumper first, then the bracket piece, then that assembly goes throught the fender hole and maybe rotates to secure it? The bracket looks too be to go into the fender, but I cant figure out what the bolt threads into to hold it to the fender.

all 3 part #s you listed are readily available out of main MI warehouse from GM

the nutserts slip up and down in the bumper , and slip into larger holes with slots

That's where they are coming from, Michigan to someplace in Phoenix, then to me in CA.

So do I already have the nutserts in the bumper cover I ordered, or are those just threaded holes that the nutsert goes on top of? And I'm sure it's a special shape nutsert, right? I can't just use one I have around the garage, it has to fit the hole in the fender?

Thanks for the help with this!

actually , they go from MI to L.A. , then to phoenix if the place you ordered them from is here , then they would go out to you , it is likely a local dealer would have gotten them faster than a online site , lol

the nutserts are threaded , and they are sized for the hexigon in the bumper , and the hole/slot in the bumper

Actually, though, it sounds like I don't need them...now that I understand it, I should just be able to use the nuts that were on there....I'm headed to the shop now to see if my broken spanish can explain this to the guy...or maybe I'll just show him the video that was up on another thread. After watching it a few times and then your explaining, I think I've got it. Just to clarify, the "reinforcement" piece is only if you trash the bumper trying to get the nutserts out, correct? And thanks for the shipping info, I will just order from the local dealers from now on...makes sense for stuff coming from the east coast, it's all going to LAX anyway...
Thanks!

Make sure you clean up the inserts and anti-seize grease the bolts up, before you have it bolted up. There are a couple folks on FB that are taking flat bar, drilling holes through it and the tacking/welding bolts on it. They use them to eliminate the inserts.

Yeah, I think that's a salt the road and rain in the summer problem. Mine actually look pretty new, even though they are 10 years old. I got it back together, but since I've already ordered the reinforcement kit, I'll be prepared when I drop the bumper again, I can use the new nuts. And I take it the reinforcement piece is for use if you mash up the holes the nuts go in, correct?

I agree on your view of the “fix”. The fenders are so thin, that area gets bent rather easy. The holes have a tendency to get pull down on the fender. I general do some light taps with a hammer around the holes to flatten the area again.
