Roof moldings

Post by iefbr14 »

My 2014 black rubber(?) moldings were replaced twice under warranty for losing luster and becoming pitted.

I suppose Australia does not have Southern California sun beating on horizontal surfaces like the roof.

My cars out of warranty now, any ideas how to preserve the new ones I have?

Are everyone else's moldings pitted and dull?

I would assume Australia does get some abuse from the sun. Its been 120* down there lately. I will use a small nylon brush and some soap to clean them and then rub any number of "New Black" trim products into them. I use the same procedure for all of the black plastic, rubber trim on the car. Even the door handles.

Wrap in black vinyl. That or sand and paint.
