Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
The stock 9C1 shifter harness can now be attached to the G8 shifter and installed in the car.

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
Now for the parking break. You need to either purchase a front cable specifically for the 9C3 ($80) or install an adjusting block on the end of the 9C1. Since I had a adjusting block end piece from a donor G8 I simply slit the block with a cutoff wheel, slid it on the 9C1 cable and put a couple of tack welds to prevent the end ball from slipping out.
After installing the G8 hand brake assembly you will need to run a wire from the parking brake switch to the existing parking brake light lead. It basically grounds the circuit so the light will prompt on the dash when the brake is engaged.

- To remove the parking break cable you need to remove the bolts that hold the heat shield in place beneith the car slide it back to access the two bolts holding it in place.

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
The G8 12v accessory outlet simply tapped into the existing 9C1 accessory outlet lead. They don't use the same harness plug so I soldered leads on the 9C1 connector to power the G8 outlet and kept the 9C1 plug so I can plug the 9C1 receptacle to use on future accessories (Apple TV).

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
Now for the tc, sport and trunk switches. In order to use the GM combination switches that fit the console trim plate in front of the shifter you will need the correct harness plug. Try and get one from a salvage yard. If not you can get them from GM but are pricy at $100.

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
Because I wanted to keep a stock look to the tc and sport button I sourced a switch from Australia with both. It turns out it's the same button as the 9C3 trunk-tc switch so you can follow the same pin configuration just keep in mind the tc is on the right on the 9C3 not the left like the one you can get that has tc and sport.

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
The existing 9C1 sport and tc plugs will need to be tapped and attached to the new switch plug. Specifically you will need to identify the brown (traction) and grey (sport) signal wires. The black is ground and red the back light.
My approach was to solder the donor plug wire ends so they are like pins and I pushed them into the 9C1 wire connectors then shrink wrapped them.

In post 2 and just above, you note this:
"harness plug that is used for the traction control switch"
Do you need _just_ the plastic connector end, or the connector and some of the wiring? Thanks.

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
The 2013 caprice doesn't have a spot in the glovebox for the trunk release button so I needed to find an alternat location. The G8 trunk switch fits nicely behind the 12v liter outlet. I simply tapped the G8 harness into the 9C1 trunk plug harness.
If you want to be able to pop the trunk with the ignition off the mod is in this post.

Re: 9C1 Console Installation 2011-'13
You need a pigtail with the plug. Say about 3". That way you can make the connection to the 9C1 harness. The way I did it was to remove the female end from the 9C1 plug connector and soldered the ends of the donor connector pigtail ends and slid then together. That way I can always return the 9C1 harness back to stock if desired.CrashTestDummy wrote:In post 2 and just above, you note this:
