Hello

Post by Jay_Z »

Hi, thanks for letting me join the forum. I've been lurking for a few months as I've been searching for a decent deal on a caprice. I don't know if I got a good deal, but I do have a caprice now. I'm looking forward to dressing up the interior some, cleaning up the exterior some, but mostly just looking forward to driving this thing.

The car is a black 2012 9C1 6.0. It's in need of strut mounts and sway bar end links. I also need to do something about the muffler delete sooner than later, the drone is pretty annoying. I have stock exhaust, but the bolt flanges have been cut off of the car side, and straight pipes welded on. I'm debating between putting stock mufflers back on, adding free flowing mufflers, adding custom j tubes, or possibly both j tubes and new mufflers. Any input on the appropriate length for j tubes would be greatly appreciated! Or if somebody could give me the approximate centerline length off a set of solo pipes, that would be great.

Sorry for the long winded introduction. I would like to thank you all for all the knowledge I've gained so far by lurking, I hope I can contribute to the group in some way!

Welcome! Post pics or it didn't happen.

I'd put mufflers on. Stock are just too restrictive and quiet. You want some rumble

Here are a few pictures from the ad when it was listed. I think I have enough material on hand to try a set of j tubes, so I'll probably try that before spending any money on the exhaust. I do like the sound outside of the 1800-2000 rpm range.

I'm jealous! there's a 2 month min. wait to get my '12 de-panda-ed by any shops nearby, paint OR wrap, I don't care. You'll not truly appreciate your anonymity on the road until you've driven a black n white as a daily in a small town, lol.
They're beautiful cars, imo, bone-stock, all black, dog-dish caps...
Your's is a great example!
