2012 9C1 Organ Donor

Post by DocB »

I'm a retired academic living in Boulder, Colorado. My dad was a mechanic and I started working with him at his first service station (remember those?) back in 1961 so I've had wrenches in my hands for while now. I picked up a 2012 9C1 from a municipal auction that had taken a bad hit in the front end. But other than bending all of the suspension, destroying both front wheels, and having the interior trashed when taking the gear out of it, the car is in decent shape :? So I'm going to pull the engine and transmission and some of the electronic goodies and put them in a 1959 Rambler station wagon. Even though I won't end up with a Caprice, I plan on attempting many of the things folks on this board are doing. If I can pull it off, I should have a reliable sleeper that will be immense fun.

I appreciate all of the information I've picked up while lurking here over the last couple of days and I'm sure that if I can pull this off it will be due in large part to the folks in this community.

Sounds like an awesome plan! Welcome to the Forum.

Are you planning to part out what's left? I would be interested in the stereo silver box if the antenna connection is intact. :D

Yes, I remember those. I used to work at one on I10 on the west side of Houston when I was in high school.

1959 Rebel? We had one of those when I was growing up. Unfortunately, some old guy in a Buick decided he didn't need to stop for a stop light, and my Dad t-boned him, totaling the Rambler. :(

Are you documenting that build anywhere? If not, pics of the Rambler??

And Welcome!
