IIRC, our '12 shows total hours, and hours at idle. It's been a while since I've looked, but it's just a few presses of the DIC button on the steering wheel to check.
The maintenance records will include any work GM did on the vehicle. Most agencies will take their vehicles to the dealer for major work/warranty work, etc. Heck, some take them to the dealer for ALL work, depending on the agreement the agency makes with the dealer. But you'll find out things like cam/lifter replacement, transmission service, suspension parts replacement, and any collision repairs and recalls done on the vehicle. The records on our '12 showed that the cam and lifters were replaced at about 60K miles.

Re: Beginners Guide to buying a Caprice PPV
Have any of you guys bought a PPV from chicago motors or any of the dealers in chicago that are on the for sale section? They're vehicles seem pretty over priced. My bank uses values from NADA and most of they're vehicles are above NADA's values. thanks.
Re: Beginners Guide to buying a Caprice PPV
I have found, if your going to finance and buy one, have some $ also to use, cause the the NADA sucks. And yes Chicago motors is most than the rest, but a lot of guys had good luck with them.

Re: Beginners Guide to buying a Caprice PPV
Our Credit Union financed both our Tahoe PPV and 9C1 we purchased from Cop Cars Online 100%. Not sure who they used for coming up with the numbers, but we had zero issues. We DID have to ship them both, which ran about $600 each, but that was cheaper than going to get them ourselves.

Re: Beginners Guide to buying a Caprice PPV
I tried to get 2 used ones prior to my 14, and they wouldn't give full pricing. I just refi'd my 14, with the 11,000 miles for mileage, only books for 17k Paid 24 less than a year ago.

That's typical GM depreciation for you, which is why they sell cars 20% off MSRP right on the lot also...

Re: Beginners Guide to buying a Caprice PPV
Well guys, I think I found the one. I found a 2012 black Caprice 9C1 with 57,000 miles on it. It has a magnaflow axle back from a G8, X-pipe, and 2010 Camaro SS 20” wherels but other than that it’s stock. Hours are 6111 total and 3494.5 idling. The car is *extremely* clean, it’s about 3 hours away from me and a fairly good price. Might pull the trigger on this one..
