New Caprice - Discussion forums

Hey guys! I have been wanting a Caprice since I saw in 2015. I ended up buying a 2012 Caprice 9C3 off of public surplus, it had 201,000 miles. Yeah I probably have the most miles of all. The car was worth it. It handles and response amazing. My old car was a Crown Vic. The car is from Arizona and had zero rust. I bought it for 3,200 plus tax and shipping.

nice score ! surprised the V6 lasted that long , they usually have timing chain issues , so do some research on it

Yeah I saw that before I won the auction, hoping it wont happen but you never know.

i saw a aussie video say something about the timing chain issue being cause from a pcv issue , i just know the issue can be spendy

though the L77 6.0 had DOD lifter issues , some look at it as a good excuse to put a nice cam in it and make alot more power

If memory serves me, the 3.6 engine is the same as the one in the Camaro. The 3.6 LFX. I think...and I am push my mind back through weeks of reports, that the timing chains wore out due to a sensor. However don't quote me on this. I have to double check.

yeah same in the camaro , G8 , cts , and caprice , there is usually a code that sets , and it leads to the chain

First I've heard of this issue, someone needs to do a write-up on it in the V6 section so any future owners can evaluate....
