Welds are on the car!

Post by leadfart »

My Weld wheels came in this week, and they fit awesome! Just so anyone who wants to know about fitment, these are 17x9, 7.3 BS, 5x 120MM and 58MM offset. I mounted 295/45/17 MT ET II drag radials on them, and everything works. No overhangs, no sticking out, no rubs, everything clears with plenty of space, on the back side.

This combo fits great on a non-lowered car. The only downside is the ugly, rusty hub assemblies are very visible with the five spoke wheels.

Now, I'm just waiting for some mine shaft air, to test the new torque converter, and my louder, no muffler exhaust!

has anyone seen they come in some 18" size also? its clearly meant for a much wider wheel but how much does it cost to get a pair of steel factory wheels widened 3"? wonder if there is anyway to fit this under stock wheel wells?

Pretty much no! 305's can be massaged in. You would need custom wheels and lots of work.

Another little tidbit, with the way the Welds are designed, you don't need centering rings, they would just add another PIA issue. They are lug centric, and they bolt up very tight, all the way around. They will be centered, when they are snugged up. Weld also recommends 110 on torque, with 14MM studs.

I had the pleasure of meeting Bob today and seeing his amazing car. It is easily the fastest Caprice I have ever been in, of any year model!!! Words cant describe it. I took some pics of his wheels today and posted them per his request.

I have found my path...

Shown are the wheels installed on the rear. The drag radials do a good job hooking up considering the power and stall this has.

Ok sorry, I have done this before I promise. Half the time, I get a message saying the image in invalid and other times it works but the photo comes out huge. I don't see anyway to resize it, what am I doing wrong....

Disregard, I figured it out.
