2014 XTS wheels

Post by bsparks72 »

I'd like to jump on these, but they have stupid Badyear RSA tires that I'd want to replace. They're 19x8.5, 39mm offset, with 245/45/19 tires, which would be just about perfect. They're the polished version that I think would look pretty nice. Asking price is $900 at a tire shop. They've had them a couple of weeks at least, so I'm thinking of offering $700.

The good/bad is I can't get there to look until Saturday, so I can't make a rash decision. I'll ponder it, think on it, and then make a rash decision. :)

My thought is who else would buy these? Nobody (I hope) would put them on a Camaro. There's a limited amount of vehicles that these will even fit, really.

Don't know why folks bad mouth the RSA's so much. Maybe it's a lack of traction, but I found them quite fun for throwing the back end of our Dakota R/T around in tight, slow corners at autocross events. Angered a fair number of Mustang drivers in ESP with an otherwise stock truck.

Every set I've ever seen were hard, noisy, and rode terrible. I think they were OEM on Fred Flintstone's ride. :D

Heh, ok. On a truck, it's not so noticeable. I think we have RSAs on the Caprice now, and I do notice some road noise, but was chalking that up to the strut-type suspension and lack of carpet in the car.

I ditched the RSAs and went with cheapo Cooper Zeons. The traction and ride got better, and the noise went down.

The RSA's are not so bad on the Caprice other then snow traction being expectedly bad. My Challenger came with them and they were not to bad for about half a year. Then snow traction was so bad my wife could not get out of the neighborhood in 1/2" of snow. Then wet weather handling went then after about a year and half they became so hard all handling went. Somehow they got burnt up to cords and got replaced with Pirelli P-zeros in summer and Blizzaks in winter. Don't know what I'll do with the Caprice yet the RSA's have plenty of tread left. Probably go to winter/summer tires though I doubt I'll get the P-zeros. They don't like temps below 50 at all.

They smoke instantly. I don't know if that's good or bad.
