PPV RIMS

Post by Uk mac »

Hi all can you help
There is a big scene in the uk customising vw vans and I am looking for some different wheels
I know the ppv wheels will fit but I don't know what weight they can take as I need the wheel to be able to take a load of 815 kg approx 2000lb each wheel
I was hoping to see if
1 Is there a weight stamp on the ppv wheels
2 is there a manafactuer mark so I can contact the manafactuer
3 Last resort what is the heavy caprice weigh kerb weight

Has any body on the forum got a set of PPV rims for sale

Thanks

If you are serious I have a paypal account and will ship you the steel wheels from my 2013 Caprice PPV. I have owned the car since it had 800 miles so the wheels are in excellent condition and were never in police use. They are 18x8 5x120 and I have the detective package full wheel covers for them. I am located in Dallas,TX and will ship them to you if we can make the numbers work. The shipping will be the big expense if you are located in the UK.

1. no discernible weight stamp on wheel - only manufacturing date, size, rim bead spec
2. no manufacturer mark that is understandable--wheels are made in Turkey
3. GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of Caprice is:
(V8)
5357#
2430Kg

Curb (Kerb) weight:
4162#
1888Kg

Standard tire 235/50-18 Goodyear RS-A
Load rating 97W
Max load 1609#

2000# per wheel is probably safe for the PPV steel wheel--it weighs about 32#--what in the world are you building that requires that wheel rating? VW vans weren't THAT heavy.....?

I'll need to look at my spare, as I just went by what was shown at Tire Rack.

Thank you all for your help
The RV is a vw transporter van with a 3 metric ton pay load the uk vehicle inspectorate are hot on the weight loading and the insurance companys won't pay out even if it was not your fault
It goes back to the 70s when there were a lot of Pepole putting banded steel wheels on and having Fatal accidents when the rims failed
Thank you
I will post some pics when I get some and you can all have a laugh at van
