2016 > Camaro wheel - rub issue

Well, it finally happened. The 2016 & up Camaro wheels with the 32mm offset can rub on your fender if you compress the suspension sufficiently, but I've never yet had the problem because our cars with the police suspension are sprung so tightly... until yesterday.

I was on one of the smaller two-lane roads in my area and the benevolent local government had recently installed 15 MPH speed humps. Well, taking one at the posted limit of 15 MPH, when the front end encountered it..... SHREEEEK! Suspension maxed out & caused fender wheel rub. GRRRR......

Now taking it slower for a repeat test did not max out the suspension and it didn't rub... like 5 MPH or so. But, this just goes to show you that the warnings are not idle chatter and you actually can really rub with these wheels. Do it too many times and it might be repaint time... or worse!

Beware lurking speed humps!

Were you running Camaro height tires or Caprice height tires?

I'm running the stock 18" Camaro tires on the rims, the Eagle Sport tires in 245 that they came with. Got about 30k on the set so far, they were basically new take-off's when I picked them up. I'll move to 235's after I use these tires up. I know we have people running these rims in both configurations....

Thanks
Eric

Eric,
Could you post a picture of the wheel that you have? Just to provide more context in case someone else has the same rim?
Thanks,

Maurice

Camaro has 245/50-18 tire which is 27.6" tall.
Caprice has 235/50-18 tire which is 27.3" tall.
