Steel wheel color

Post by Steve »

Has anyone ever seen a PPV with stock steelies painted (powder coated) to match the body color? I have Googled images and searched, but don't see any examples. I have seen a few older Chevy rally wheels painted this way, and thought it looked pretty good. Maybe the lack of examples of this on the PPV means the wheel just looks best in black?

Thanks in advance for your feedback/example photos....

Closest I’ve seen is some agency with wheels painted silver.

The wheels come from GM painted black, and I'm sure the departments don't spend a lot of time 'spiffing' the wheels up to match the body color before slapping them into service.

Are you sure those are silver, or just reflecting the light off the concrete wall behind the vehicles? Funny, that car looks a bit like mine with all the antennae on the roof.

I have G8 GTO 18" wheels ( and springs ) on my '13 with the centers of the spokes painted body color, which is a bright blue metallic w/silver top. Not expensive and the stock tires fit. A little like the Hurst gold spoke wheels back in the day.
