Looking to buy wheels for my 2014 Caprice

Post by Turbopowered68 »

What are the max width and offset/back spacing sizes that can be installed in the front and rear?
I am looking for 18 inch wheels
What is the max width and tire height for front and rear?
Thanks for your help.

I kept the stock 8" OEM Wheels on the front that had the 235/50/18" Tires or you can go to 255/45/18s on the stock 8" rims.
I had my stock steelies widened 1-1/2" on the backside and 1/2" on the front side for a 10" wide wheel. But if you include the 1/2" rolled lip on the wheel than its 11" wide (or overall width), but for lack of argument its considered a 10" wheel. I'm currently running the Nitto NT05 Drag radials in a 295/40/18 since your extremely limited on street tire choices in a wide 18" tire. I wanted to keep the stealthy Original look of these PPVs. Alot if guys are using the Camaro alluminum wheels in either a 19 or 20" much lighter than are 35 lb. Steelies. I can probably go to a 305 tire on the rear but run the risk of possibly rubbing on the little bump out on the frame where the upper struts attach. But if I find a pair of used tires I'll fit them up and see if they rub. These drag radials are way to expensive new to experiment with.

Nice Info Walt (Capeasy), thanks !

I have been thinking about having an extra pair of rims widened.
Might be a good winter project.
Do you remember who you had do it?
There is alot of negative info regarding having the wrong shop do it.

I currently run stock steelies with Hoosier DOT Drag Radial Tires 245/40-18.
Best sixty foot so far has been 1.68,
but I think I need more gear (currently 3.27) and want to make sure it still hooks like it does now.

Thanks Barry. I'm in the So. Cal. Area and I used New Year metal finishing in Santa Ana which was OK for the price around ($150 each). I wish they would of pressure tested it by putting a tire on it prior to powder coating them because I found two tiny pin holes in each of the wheels which had to be re-welded in those spots then I touched them up with some black paint so they don't rust. There are better shops like Stockton wheel up north but they quoted me $300 to $450 each. I may have a couple more widened to put some daily driver tires on them. I've been struggling with trying to find some alluminum 18 X 10" or 10-1/2" wheels with our bolt pattern 5X120 (not 120.7) like some other chevys like vettes and early GMs and with an offset of around 40 to 48 MM . I either have custom two piece wheels made at $750 and up each or try to find some corvette wheels and re-drill and sleeve the bolt pattern and use hub centric rings from 70.3 mm to our 67.1 mm hub bore we have. But Vettes also have some weird offsets.

Are Those Camaro Wheels?
Well I went On-line to see what wheels are on sale for Cyber Monday and actually spoke to a few companies specializing in out of the ordinary offsets, One company was "Custom Offsets" in WI. the other here in Long Beach. One says our bolt pattern is 5X4-3/4" in his fitment book the other online company says 5X120mm WTH? So I purchased a couple wheel stud pattern Template gauges, the plastic ones with the multiple holes in them. And I tried some American racing spoke wheels off my 67 Nova which is a 5 X 4-3/4" using the 1/2-20 studs and those wheels fit perfect ! And when I use the Template gauge the 5 X 4-3/4" lines up perfect. When I hold up the template with the 5 X 120mm our PPV pattern is a bit bigger (Approx. .030) which is the difference between these two patterns that GM is using now. Can anyone out there finally put this to rest and either confirm with me or show me in a GM publication otherwise. Yes I know the difference is only about .030 between the two patterns. I have Willwood disc brakes all the way around on my 67 Nova and I did have some 5 X 120 rollers on there to just move the car around while were building it but I wont tighten up the lug nuts because Willwood said it may fit but its not correct and It'll bend my studs.
Thanks Guys
