We'll just chalk it up to different viewpoints or semantics--the matter of which is "active" is moot for a setup with a tight-fit centering setup (hub centric), which isn't that common--I agree it's primarily the wheel studs that are active in the majority of light-duty vehicles (ie. cars), and I think we both agree that the typical (GM) OEM hub fit does not constitute active centering when a proper (matching pattern) tapered-seat fastener setup is utilized.

You're choosing to make an issue of it having to be "either - or", when what truly matters is that there IS active centering, no matter how it is achieved.

No, the only point I was trying to make was that either the hub or lugs center the wheel, not both as previously stated.

the wobble lugs cant be any worse than slotted wheels , shank lug nuts , and no hub centric rings , and they lasted decades

hell people didnt worry about the hub centric rings , tell low profile tires were gaining ground , im sure we can all agree a proper machined wheel for your vehicle , is the best way to go , while not the least expensive by any means , hot rodding was built on back yard tech and low amounts of $$$

Didn't notice or recall specific ring material mentioned before you brought it up....

I'll ask once again--are you using hub-centric rings on your car--or maybe the 15mm spacers are hub-centric? If not, does this mean you don't consider them to be needed for a proper installation?

Bill,

What are you trying to prove, exactly? Why so negative? Even if he said he was using non-plastic rings, you would still consider his installation improper, right? The fact is that people who are actually doing it are out having fun with their cars and not dying, rings or no rings. Can you provide some actual proof that this is unsafe? Some actual evidence would be nice, and I for one would like to see it.

The plastic rings are a joke!

Negative? I simply wanted to know the full setup--the reference to "proper" setup was to understand what (his) full setup is, and no answer or explanation has come from that effort, after multiple requests. Instead the OP was apparently offended that I wanted to know.

What and how I do wheels vs anyone else becomes a matter of the standards I follow. A discussion where our methods may differ means an opportunity for everyone interested to express their opinions or ask questions. I have indicated some concerns, and now I'm being criticized, ridiculed, called names, and told that I'm having an impact on people having fun.

I have not said "don't do this", but I have said I wouldn't do it that way....what is wrong with that? I feel I owe that to the other Forum members, rather than to let one approach, which I have issues with, stand without a discussion. I don't consider that to be negative or stepping on a thread.

By the way, yes, Motorsport Tech sells plastic, but I only use their aluminum rings.

Kevin I think negative nancy here is just trying to share his you google-pro knowledge, and is trying to feel good about him self by bashing other peoples setups.

Stick with your steelies bill if you cant afford anything else. NO ONE cares what you do, I guarantee it
