Re: How big are you tires?
I had an idea of widening a set of 9C1 steelies to 10" and throwing on a set of 295/40R18s ...
Still need to take some measurements to determine wheel offset

Re: How big are you tires?
So how wide can I make the stock steel wheels for the back of the PPV for special occasions. I live 2 miles from the local 1/8th mile track and would like to bolt on some bigger rears at home and drive over to make some passes on Test and Tune nights. I now have four extra stock wheels so I was going to widen a pair for mounting Drag Radials.

Re: How big are you tires?
I wouldn't widen them at all. MT DR Street II's, 265/40/18, fit great on factory rims. They are almost the same height, slightly shorter, and require no adjustment for speedo or mph, and shift points. I can hook on a good track with my blower motor, should be fine for mild NA setups.

Re: How big are you tires?
Those MTs are an inch shorter and your speed will be off 3.5% so will your shift points. That's up to you if you're ok with it. Mt also recommends you use at least a 9' wide wheel for them. There are several reasons why, but they main one includes the bead unseating. That being said I am running 275 BFGs for my street tires right now and have had no problems. You can see the sidewall rolling though. you should be fine with the 265s especially for just straight lining. Id run em...

Re: How big are you tires?
Just an FYI, from my experience, I GPS'ed the speedo with my Garmin, and it is spot on, according to it. In fact, is more accurate with the DR's. My shift points were dead-on, and I experienced no rolling of the beads. I only drive to and from the track with them, however.
I'm running them on OEM 18x8 Caprice-V rims. This is just my experience. Do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Re: How big are you tires?
Is anyone running Camaro wheels with the Camaro stock tires (245/55/18 or 245/45/20 & 275/40/20)? Curious if you've noticed any issues with the extra height or not. Take-offs are a nice option and then I/you can replace with the correct size when it's time.

Re: How big are you tires?
I had Camaro SS take offs on my 9C1, but the Camaro's tires are taller. I took them off because the rears rubbed even with my fenders rolled. My car is lowered though. In order to get the Camaro rims to work, you can put them on without lowering the car. If you lower the car, you'll have to get 2 sets of fronts, the staggered set up for the rears will rub when you hit a bump.eagle-co94 wrote:Is anyone running Camaro wheels with the Camaro stock tires (245/55/18 or 245/45/20 & 275/40/20)? I've got
275/35R20 for the rear
245/40R20 for the front
These tires are the correct height to match the OEM 18"
