Wheel Covers vs. Center Caps

Post by brewerb258 »

I have a 9C3 and I bouncing the idea of taking of the full wheel covers and putting on center caps (I don't have a set yet). I like the look of the center aps and it would be easier, faster to change the tire. However, the full wheel cover makes the car look like a normal car/unmarked....and the wife likes it. What you guys think?

I say keep the full wheel covers. I really like the look of the Impala center caps (The smaller bolt in ones), but it will look to obvious. In today's world, you don't know who's thinking what. Someone sees that car, thinks its a cop, then goes nuts. Just my 2cents.

If the car is not white or black and has no spotlight, I dont think it would look like a cop, to most people anyway.

I found the wheel covers to be a little plain looking, so I took them off
and added beauty rings and center caps off a 90's blazer. I like them ok, but I wish the steelies were
ralley style like the Camaro. I'm in the process of Plasti Dipping the wheel covers black,
to see what that looks like.

Ultimately I want some aftermarket or nice factory alloys, but the options are slim in 18x8.

My car is white and its the detectives package. I kinda want to make it look more special. I like how yours doesn't have the Chevy symbol on the trunk. I thought about taking mine off. Not really a fan of that huge bow tie.

I thought about putting the impala center caps on like Zeos has on his. The caps are cheaper as well.

Yea, I thought about the Impala center caps as well as ones from 91–96 Caprices, like these.
I never could find a set for a cheap enough price.
I wonder also what my car would look like with white walls, lol.

I thought the emblem was to big as well, and the gold color looked bad with the car's color.
The trunk emblem comes off pretty easily, lots of de-badging write ups on the G8 boards.
I used the fishing line technique.

I saw ebay has them for about $70, however they don't have the bolts to screw into the wheels.

I just took the emblem off the tr5unk. Makes a huge difference. I think it looks sharp without an emblem. I might pick up a trunk trim with "Caprice" on it to make it alittle sleeker.

the B-body should be a 5x5 bolt pattern and the impala i think is 5x114.7

ours are 5x120 or very closely match to 5x4 3/4

the centers on the silver ppv look to be the S10 centers which are 5x4 3/4

Are you talking lug nuts or the small screws that bolt the center cap to the well?
