2012 Camaro SS Wheels 20''

Post by 12ppv »

Finially got the wheels on the car. Thought I was going to love them more but they look ok. Ill put up the procedure to get these on a caprice for someone on here that might love them

Wheels were takeoffs from a SS camaro - $220
Powdercoat gloss black - $65 each - $340
Tires 245/40/20 and 275/30/20 - $460
Black gorilla locking lug nut kit $70
Machine out hubs - do it yourself.

after getting them all ready to throw on my car i realized they dont fit the bigger hub on our caprices, but it was simple work with a router and milling bit to take off the little "lip" on the back so theyll go on. hard to describe but if anyone has problems doing this comment and ill post some pics I took. A machine shop charged a friend $100 for all 4 if your not comfortable doing it yourself, but its super easy if you have the tools hanging around (router - $60 from home depot, bit $20 ebay).

oh yeah I prefer chunky tires in the front for bumps and potholes, and low-profile tires on the back for drifting so i get more power straight to the ground without tire twist getting in the way, for the average driver I would sugest 275/35/20s in the back instead

Looks great ! I always thought the camaro rims fit with out any work to them . I have never seen anything thing on the G8 forum about them having to mill anything . I guess thats the price we pay for being different lol .

Looks nice, but now the dull black heat extractors on the fenders and the mirror housings stand out, and not in a good way. Time to break out the paint gun. :mrgreen:

The hub on the PPV is the same size as the Camaro--I'm not questioning whether you had a fit issue, but the reason has to be something else,

Was the entire wheel powdercoated, including the hub center? This could easily account for the reduced clearance on the hub register you've encountered.

Caprice rotor: http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php ... 72&jsn=475" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Camaro rotor: http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php ... 17&jsn=558" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Note rotor hub register bore of 67.4mm on both rotors.

Looks nice. Maybe putting some color on the calipers and brackets will make you happier with them.

I say good call on powder coating them. In the end I chose not to do mine and now the brake dust is a hassle.

Did you put 20's on the front wheels ? I tried 2011 oem camaro rims 275/40 20 rears and the front was 245/45 zr20 but was barely any room from the tire and strut/spring.

You can't use stock Camaro height tires. It's been covered quite a bit but your'e going to do damage if you do.
