NO change overnight and i tried the pulling and rotating the shaft (WOW THIS JUST GOT WEIRD) nothing different

I just measured a stock 2011 PPV front strut, and the clevis width (inside) is 1 (one) inch - 25.4mm

Thanks for that info confirming the differences. I just ordered the replacement 2012 OEM struts I'll post back when I get them.

Got the new 2012 OEM front struts today and confirmed they do extend out the correct length. Not sure what is going on with those first ones i ordered that are listed as the 2014/15 SS sedan versions however even if they did fit the PPV springs they won't work on the earlier cars with the narrow front knuckle clevis. Unfortuneately no time for test drive but all looks right and def sitting a bit lower.

Looks good! I'm sure you'll notice an improvement in ride quality but still have the sporty handling.

Caprice rides SO MUCH NICER.... my 2011 was very stiff over crap pavement and freeway expansion joints etc... change to the newer struts and SS sedan springs is amazing... Wish i did it a year ago. If you have the large rim size on it will be even better I'm running 19" and it rides like my mother in laws CTS caddy.

sounds like I'm going to like mine when I finally get this done. Hard to believe that parts that look so much alike can make such a difference.

It appears that the rear has settled down some--gives me some concern that the rear control arm mod with SS springs could drop the rear too much....I can always make a different insert slug to adjust it.

What size 19" tire are you using--245/45 or 245/40?

Yeah i think the rear looks lower than when I first had it back on the ground, not sure if its settled or if it was the alignment (rear was the big adjustment on my car) but I'm very happy with the look and in love with the ride, have done 100 miles in past day over all kinds of roads its just flat out fantastic now. Tires are 245/40/19 all around, and rear set of pirellis are not the newest either. Cold Tire pressure is 33F 36R which I've settled on due to the stupid TPMS alarms, I'd really like to run 32-33 all around but I have yet to get anyone who claims they know how to do it at Chevy.

IF YOU OWN A 2011 ON STOCK SUSPENSION YOU ARE DRIVING A WOODEN WHEEL WAGON COMPARED TO THIS.

If you've read the linked info here, all I can do is offer to get my local Supertech to talk to your tech and explain how to do it. I do recall the TechTool was required.

UPDATE: I spoke with the local tech, and re-confirmed what was presented previously--and the tech is willing to talk to another tech. He did mention that there are some dealers who will not permit any deviation from built-in settings, as in this case with TPMS, even though it IS possible to do so--more about legal issues, risk-avoidance, etc. The events that mandated TPMS have the lawyers concerned, it would seem. It's really too bad that common sense is no longer applicable.

Alright, I'm looking into this as well....There are definitely a few roads where the ride is "unsettled".

Did a little digging online and I see multiple part numbers for the springs.

Fronts: GM 92290030 (mentioned earlier in this thread) is listed for 2014 SS, at a cost of $53.33 at my favorite gm parts supplier. GM92289853 is listed for 2014 / 15 / 16 SS, cost of $46.20 at the same supplier.

Rears: Same story, different chapter: GM 92290028 (mentioned earlier) is listed for 2014 SS, cost = $32.88. GM 92261935 is listed for 2015 / 16, cost = $44.76.


Anybody know the difference between the two pairs of parts, besides the numbers being different? It looked from the catalog that they all interchanged, but I couldn't swear to that.
