Motive Brake Bleeder adapter info

Post by smwalker »

Was having a discussion on FB tonite about the Motive Brake bleeder products for the PPV. Thought this might be helpful reference.

Motive Writes on their site:

Australian made cars such as the GTO/G8/SS primarily uses the adapter 1117. The GTO has seen the 1117(id 2"), 1118(id 1.98") and a select few that use the 1105 adapter.

For the PPV the 1117 does not seem to fit down into the master cylinder reports are it works on the G8's fine. The 1108 (plastic) or 1118 (aluminium) works better because it has a flat top and the tabs seal down well.

The flat plate and cheesy Chinese chain that comes with the standard kit was pretty much useless for anything but keeping the trash can from blowing away in a wind. I could not get the thing to seal at all on our 3rd Gen F-body. I got so frustrated I threw the entire kit in the trash.

I might get one of these caps, but I'd just go to the local hardware store and pick up a hand-pump sprayer and use that for the air pressure.
