yes, a bit off-topic....we'll fix it later

I find it interesting & curious that Dorman offers a service part that is still available/in production from GM, especially a performance-oriented part.

Yes that's exactly the part I used, seems like a copy of the factory piece at less than 50% cost... I'm trying to figure out what the difference in the poly upper bushes is now, BMR version is almost $100 and there are whitelines offered for $30?

Bill I think you made a mistake on the whiteline bushing only part #, I'm seeing this as the replacement for the rear upper control arm part. Strangely it says to 5/11 production so maybe that lines up with what you said about the later cars having aluminum arms?

Looks to me like the aftermarket versions are all using the same bracket and bushing across the various platforms and that the caprice for whatever reason has its own slightly different part than the Camaro version at least.

bushings

I listed both 63156 & 63157, but I agree, they're not replacements for the same points in the rear suspension.

I think the 63156 is for steel upper control arms. Only SuperPro appears to have the upper control arm bushing covered in both steel & aluminum arm variants.

Techna-Fit Braided Stainless brake hoses--finally!

Post by Navy Lifer »

Techna-Fit has assigned PN CHEV-4500 to their hose kit for 2011-2017 Chevy Caprice PPV and 2014-2017 Chevy SS.
http://www.technafitstore.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

As already addressed, the front brackets are NOT included in this kit.

This kit was not showing in the TF online catalog yet, but should be there soon.

This kit will come with 4 banjo bolts (M10x1.0), 4 retaining clips and 8 copper seal gaskets.
NOTE: PPV front OE calipers use a M10x1.5 banjo bolt, which can be re-used, or you can order the correct bolts with the basic hose kit. This hose kit is "universal", fitting both PPV & SS applications, regardless of calipers being used.

Price is $99.00 plus shipping. See the link above to visit the website and order your kit.

All kits are made to order. As a result, it is possible to have a specific color of vinyl sheath (no extra charge). All hoses are Teflon-lined, AN -3 spec (industry standard).

Not sure others will come across it but on the SS fourm one member went into great detail on how to modify the front brake hose bracket to accept braided lines.

Steve, the writer of the linked post got a bit carried away, IMO. I understand that he was at home, perhaps with limited tools or skills, and was doing all he could to prevent spilling brake fluid or contaminating the system.

For all the effort he went through, it would have been far easier to buy a pair of Centric replacement hoses to scavenge the brackets (held in by C-clips, unlike the OE hoses), rather than hack-up the brackets as he did. I will assume you've seen the bracket pictures I posted--no hacking required.

The writer of that article was also using OE hoses from Camaro that are part of the ZL1 (6-piston) calipers, which will work with the Techna-Fit hoses. The one thing that isn't required with the Techna-Fit hoses is preservation of the "flat" on the hose fitting for indexing purposes. Not good enough for OEM standards, most likely, but I don't see a significant downside to the hose & bracket not being indexed, honestly.

As I mentioned on SS Forum, and possibly here, I am willing/able to do a bracket exchange for anyone wanting to avoid buying a pair of Centric hoses to get new brackets to make the installation of the Techna-Fit hoses quite a bit simpler than the post linked in your response above. It will require a little patience, while another SS or PPV owner does the hose install and sends me their take-off hose brackets to modify and send on to the next person waiting "in line".

Can you explain how you are going to modify them that is different from cutting the bracket? Pressing out the line?

The OE front hose/bracket gets removed from the vehicle. That would have been the case if someone used a G8 GT kit to upgrade the hoses--both the Goodridge & Russell kits come with brackets.

The hose is cut away, leaving only the bracket and swedged fitting.

The fitting is cut away, either with a hacksaw or die grinder. If you look at the photo I posted of brackets, one pair is Centric and one pair is OE. As mentioned, the Centric version comes apart just by removing a C-clip.

The OE brackets had the fitting cut off on one side and then the other side just falls out, leaving the hole intact. It does have an indexing flat, but with the Techna-Fit hoses, the flat goes away when the hole is opened up to 39/64".

No slot needs to be cut, or other compromise of the integrity of the stock bracket is necessary, unlike what the guy on SS Forum did.

Am I missing something in your question?
