Tie rod blues
Tie rod blues
I'm having trouble finding outer tie rods for my 2011.
Ordered aftermarket and the stud is shorter then the original.
Ordered GM oem and still short (92198275)
Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Tie rod blues
Update your post with the aftermarket part numbers so we can see what you ordered.
Re: Tie rod blues
I already returned the aftermarket parts and don't have the receipt for those part #s
I have since ordered GM tie rods that also turned out to have short studs.
Gm # 92198275 (left) - pictured with the original left side that I just took off the car.
And GM # 92198274 (right) not in pic
Thanks

Re: Tie rod blues
did you have the part #'s checked against your VIN # ?
i always have the last 8 when i need to get parts , it narrows the parts down , usually

Re: Tie rod blues
Could you take a picture of how each of them fit on the knuckle? Very wierd as the parts catalog only lists oe set of part numbers. looks like some sot of heavy duty option.
Re: Tie rod blues
If you lightly bolt up the new part, is the inner socket on the same plane as the other side. It may be the angle of the picture, but it looks like the ball socket is offset more than the new one. GM may have changed the design. Unfortunately my stash of spare parts off of a 2013 is not at the house and I can't get under the front end of my 2011 with it parked in the garage.

Re: Tie rod blues
Just bought inners and outers for my 2012, i was able to delco's from amazon
Re: Tie rod blues
The new tie rod stud is flush with the nut when tight where the original stud extends through the nut. There are the nylon locking nuts w/o cotter pins- no way can this be right.

Re: Tie rod blues
The funny thing is GM shows the steering knuckle the same on the 2011 thru 2013, so the length of the stud should be correct on the OEM tie rod. I can swing by the shop on my way home from work and get some measurements from the 2013 spare parts.
