How hard is it. Pan drop and filter change

Post by Car54 »

How hard is it to change the filter and fluid on these cars.

Reason I ask… my 2014 Tahoe SSV 4wd, was a bit of a PITA to do. The exhaust cross over pipe was about a 1/2 to tight to drop out the pan without pushing down on the exhaust to get the pan in and out. Or remove the crossover pipe like you should do :).

Car has 137, xxx on it and not sure if and when it was done.

The worst part is filling it back up. I use something like this: https://www.autozone.com/test-scan-and- ... lsrc=aw.ds

Just ordered the JRE. Hoping it's not as hard to install as the factory version.

There's a factory version? Only one I'm thinking of is a truck dipstick and tube. I'm finding $80USD ($101CAD) + shipping a bit much for the JRE.

I can't be sure but I am getting a sense that the JRE is easier to install than the GM truck version (desperately trying to save face for paying too much). I'll go stand in the corner now.. but my trans fluid level will be correct :D. I'm betting I've been running low.

they both suck , unless you have the motor or trans out , the firewall area is to tight in that corner

What about with headers? Maybe the area is more open with those? I might give it a shot next spring when she's out of hibernation.

I also hate paying too much for anything that has a cheaper alternative that works the same or better.
