Traction control button

Post by 20139c1 »

I just picked up a 2012 9C3 and the traction control button does not seem to do what it does in my 2013 9C1.
In the '13 pushing it once gives me "Performance Mode" and the car slides the rear end out with ease almost as if it's on a wet road. From a stop, starting out left or right the car will hang the back end out effortlessly.
Holding the button down for 6 or so seconds give the message "Stabilitrac Disabled" and the car will power brake until the tires are gone,.
In the 2012 pressing the button once gives the same message in the dash but the car does not respond the same. Scratches the tires a little and that's it. Also in the '12 holding it down for 6 seconds does not give the "Stabilitrac Disabled" message and while it will do a burnout it is NOT the same as the '13.

Is this a model year difference or is it because one is a 9C1 and the other a 9C3? Do I need the 9C3 in Slap Shift mode?
Most importantly, can it be fixed/tuned out? The 9C3 is a nice car (64,000 miles, 530 idle hours) just not as fun to drive.
Thanks

That is what I thought as well which is why I question if it is a 9C3 thing?

It’s been a while since I’ve done that, but i’m pretty sure our ‘12 will ‘Stabilitrack off’ with the 6+ second hold on the TC button. Maybe the department that had your car had it disabled to keep the drivers from backing it into the ditch?
