guess the guibo's(rubber u-joints) are different between them
My V6 is 4.10
you best crawl under your car and read the diff tag , its 2.92

GM did not offer any different ratios in the caprice , and there was no swapable diff sold in the US with 4.10s

you could be thinking of your FIRST gear ratio
I must be mistaken. I think I had gotten that ratio from the RPO but I must have looked it up incorrectly or not understood what it meant.

that could be possible , if they came with 4.10's a large groups of the V8s would be swapping to them , lol

I will be under my car later tonight to confirm it’s 2.92. It was code GW8 that I searched and it came back as 4.10. I’m assuming I’m interpreting the code wrong, This is my first experience having to swap a diff.

im not sure if they got their info wrong or if they are referencing only US codes , and thinking they are the same as the AU codes , i googled your code and see why you are thinking that

here is a copy of the GM build sheet for my 14 caprice , same rpo code

Yes it is possible to have a V6 car with the G80 limited slip differential. The difference is the V6 cars did not automatically come with the G80 as standard equipment but the buyer could option the G80 for extra (minimal cost). The V8 cars all came with the G80 as standard equipment. So if you have a V8 caprice it WILL have the G80. If you have a V6 Caprice then its luck of the draw.

I actually ended up purchasing a rear carrier from a V6 caprice that was LSD. It was just by chance that it came from a V6 though. The diff turned out to not be my issue though. Honestly I assumed it was the diff because the issue started after drifting around in a gravel lot and then progressively got worse until the car wouldn’t go over 7 mph.
