As you said, it was plug and play, my 2014 Caprice PPV with a 2014 Chevy SS. Just removing the SS E-Brake system ( the wiring harness, control module, and cables to the E-Brake hook tabs ) and swapping the Caprice cables on to the hook tabs, and swapping he ABS sensors. The Caprice rotors, Caliper brackets and Calipers all bolted on the SS assembly. Would a Camaro set up with more gear have been more of a noticeable change? Sure, the SS unit had 17k miles on it, and for what I paid am very happy with the results, acceleration has improved, the SS sway bar is larger, and with such low mileage parts compared to what was in my 129k mile car, the difference is also noticeably improved. Again, than you for your reply to my post(s).
very nice !

100% bolt in with no problems what so ever. A great modification to wake up these cars!

I recently got a Camaro 3.27 Diff. I found one at a local junk yard for 350 plus tax (from a '10 Camaro, auto, 6.2, 52K miles). I'll probably be installing in Jan.

I like the fact that the differential is considerably tougher than the 2 "smaller" compatible diff's. I am pondering whether it too tall, however I reserve the right to amend my thoughts after I drive with the 3.27 :D . First gear is a smidgen over 4:1. The next closest common transmission(s) I'm familiar with put first gear at 3:1 (e.g. 4L60, Tremec TR6060). 4:1 first gear is huge relative to what I'm used to. A taller gear also lowers MPG's at highway speeds. The sacrifices we make for fun :).

I guess my point is that the way I (and maybe others) think about rear ends is radically different than the "old days". The 4.11 in my '69 Camaro with a Muncie M21 (2.20:1 First gear) seemed like a stump puller. A 4.11 in a Caprice would certainly be too much for me due to the 4:1 first gear.

The very good news is that we have an incredibly wide transmission (6L80) that makes us happy at the red light and on the highway. 4.0267 1st gear, .6667 6th gear. My Muncie M21 was 2.20 first and 1:1 fourth.

I have to opportunity to pick up a COMPLETE 2017 Chevy SS Rear End, from Brake to Brake....

So, what are the advantages (IF ANY) to installing the SS Cradle???

I know the 3.27 gear ratio (Even though the pumpkin is smaller than the Camaro).

The Brembo's (I already have Brembo's to install front and rear anyway).

Maybe a bigger sway bar???

So, Disadvantages???

I Have to drop the whole rear cradle, vs just changing the pumpkin's out....

Cost might be a disadvantage. Also, I believe the parking brake is electronic. You may need to convert. I believe it's covered here somewhere.

Is there a need to do any trans tuning with this swap? Adjustments to shift points or anything?

Found a good deal on one locally, but dont want it to snowball into needing a trans tune.

Thanks

You would need to program the new gear ratio and tire size, if you changed tire size. If you a have an outside source changing this, maybe firm up the shifts and torque management?
