3:27 Chevy SS Diff' vs. 3:45 Camaro

Post by VintageIron41 »

Hello and thanks for taking time to read this. This would be regarding a 2014 6.0L PPV

I have read some of the threads on swapping diff's on how they wake the PPV up, would like to hear the consensus on the pro's an con's of a 3:27 from a Chevy SS differential swap vs. a 3:45 from a Camaro, both from the ease of the swap itself and the results in performance.

Thank you!

Thank you for your reply, it is always appreciated. I read some if not all of the threads regarding the Camaro Diff swap, it is larger yes? 8.6" vs. 8.3" on the G8's and Chevy SS?

Are either of the Diff's, SS, or Camaro a one for one swap without having to modify any of the assemblies?

Too, from experience, is the 3:27 a noticeable gain in acceleration? Does the 3:45 ratio have any drawbacks regards revving the motor higher as a daily driver ( my goal ), and does the 3:45 impact fuel economy more so than the 3:27?

Thank you!

G8 , caparice , SS sedan , are all the same size diff

the 5th gen camaro is larger , and stronger , must be a lsd diff

as i said , swapping is no different , as mentioned in hundreds of other posts here ;)

You can easily do the math to see how much more 3.45s will rev, but I'll tell you, you'll never even think about it once they're in. You have a thing called overdrive. Two gears of it, actually.

just did the 3.27 swap from a Camaro, went with that cause it was a little stronger and looking to go LSA with cam and stall so felt the 3.45 might be a little steep in that application in the future.

The 3.27 really woke the car up, I think if I was gonna stay in the 400-500 hp I would have probably went with the 3.45.

Are the rear carrier assembly's from a Chevy SS the same as the 2014 Caprice? One site tells me yes another says no, thinking about replacing the entire assembly..

read what i said above , part #s are different because of the different gearing , other wise they are identical on the outside , size and all
