If it would work without programming the computer one could pout a better switch for it on a 9C1. Maybe if one was good enough with fabrication could add paddle shifters. Be interesting to see if this would work, but where does it plug in on the 9C1? I guess I could look around at the parts diagrams to see if I can tell.

that's my question, where does it plug in. it would have to bypass the BCM, or youre right you would need a program. i dont care for paddle shifters, im really just looking for a way to hold the trans in say 2nd gear.

Still would need BCM programmed for TUTD on the Caprice as its sent from the BCM. Thats for existing vehicles that already have it that want to add a new shifter.

Trade in your 9C1 for a 9C3.

Shame GM only offered the tapshift on the 9C3 cars.

Looks like the 9C3's are really the more desirable package after all then for serious modding....

i wanted a 9c1 its more cop car like. I would like to keep the stock shifter and just have a up and down button if that was possible. I have a G8 shifter if need be. I know you have slide it over for manual mode, i dunno if three switches would be needed or not. after i go WOT in whatever gear it ends up being id need to jump back into sport shift and let the trans do the thinking.

I just did a 9C3 console swap in my 9C1. The pinouts are different on the shifter harness. The tap shift wire is missing on the 9C1. Even with the sport mode wire relocated, sport mode won't engage when you move the shifter to the right. It seems the BCM probably needs to be reprogrammed to operate the magnetic switch that the 9C3 uses for the sport mode/tap shift. The sport mode switch on a 9C1 is a button that turns it on and off.
