Get 6

Post by Rewiredllc »

About to begin my 6 speed swap. I have a 2012 Caprice, a donor 2011 SS Camaro, and a donor 2008 G8.

I'm gonna put lots of pictures up.

My plan is to use the trans, clutch, diff, pedal and plumbing from the Camaro. Looking at swapping the brembos too. The G8 will be donating seats and center console.

Been looking at these parts for a few weeks now and looks straight forward.

Here is the caprice. You can see the G8 lurking in the background.

Oh hell yes!!! if you are not going to header and some custom exhaust you can easily swap the Camaro stock stuff onto caprice, I just did it myself, the short cat pipes bolt right up to the Caprice manifolds (same part used on Camaro etc) and then the Camaro pipes go right onto that, you can cut them just before they curve at rear to attach to Camaro mufflers and then use a 2 1/2" to 2 1/4" adapter or clamp. I had to make a slice out of the passenger side pipe to bend it inward more for clearance on the heat shielding in the rear by the gas tank but other wise no problems and it definitely makes a difference.

I am not to up to date on the rear end stuff but would a 3.70 Limited slip diff be a good choise for a manual?

I got a guy maybe sending me some wheels from AU on a boat and he has one of these as well. Says that is what comes with the manual cars in AU.

Similar to this one: Ebay Listing

Would this be a desirable item? Or the Camaro better?

Yep 3.70 would be even better for a manual swap, too much for the auto though. IMO

Thanks. Yep 1960 cross country super wagon. We are gonna leave the body alone but it's getting a full restomod setup. Using a c6 front cradle and the IRS out of the Camaro or the G8. LSX something with M6.

I may need a source for Australian parts to finish off my center console. Is your guy a vendor or just a friend?

I'll take pictures when I get to the shop today. I'm probably gonna start removing the interior from the G8 today. Damn shame about the G8. First 888 car with ignition orange paint. Looks like she was spun out and backed into something hard. Oh well, my Caprice thanks her.
