SO i ordered a new transmission mount from RockAuto, and I got this huge piece of Aluminum , ( maybe 2 ft wide). The second picture)
I assumed it was smaller like black rubber part in the first picture.
So which is actually the mount?
I think the aluminum one is more like a cross member to mount the transmission.

Re: Replacement transmission mount
The first picture would be the mount. The second is what is usually referred to as the crossmember, rockauto does have it listed as the mount but that’s not what I’d call it. The two pieces do bolt together to mount the trans to the body…but still.

Yep. Another source if waiting for RA to stock isn't an option: https://www.gmwholesaledirect.com/oem-p ... t-92237122
If it's on backorder they'll ask (via email) if you need a nationwide search.

Re: Replacement transmission mount
I pretty much know the difference between a cross member and a transimission mount, but assumed since RA had it listed as a mount that it was a smaller part, the same size as the mounts, just in aluminum instead of plastic.......
No I need to get a mount LOL
Thank you all for the guidance.

Re: Replacement transmission mount
No problem. These situations are aggravating, and we've all been there (whether we can remember or admit). lol While you're in there, now would be a good time to replace any worn-out flex discs in the drive line. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/che ... oint,10701

Re: Replacement transmission mount
The part in the top pic is what I call the mount. The bottom pic would be the crossmember. FYI if the Caprice mount isnt in stock, you can get the one for a camaro and drill out the holes slightly. Mine came from rock auto for a camaro and i just had to open it up a tad.

Re: Replacement transmission mount
That is good info to know as new parts for these cars are getting scarce.andrewquant wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 9:14 am The part in the top pic is what I call the mount.
