Has anyone removed the x-pipe resonator thingy?

Post by Buck531 »

Has anyone removed it? It's the part in the middle where the pipes meet up. A buddy with a G8 said that they would delete that and replace it with an actual X-pipe and the sound of the exhaust would be a little more throaty. I tried searching but didn't come up with anything. TIA.

I’d call it more of a muffler I replaced it with a h pipe witch is for sale at the moment I just upgraded to headers and full 3in to the back

I saw that clip in another thread I was looking at. I'm assuming the rest of the exhaust isn't stock. I'm wondering how it would sound with a completely stock exhaust and that muffler piece turned into an x-pipe.

It’s stock other than the rear mufflers also removed witch I did first and really didn’t do much until I cut the center one out

Interesting. I'm trying to rack my brain on deleted mufflers vs deleted resonators vs both. I don't want anything stupid loud. I just want some grumble. Some say to just delete the mufflers.
Do you think just deleting the middle muffler will do anything? Keeping the stock rear mufflers?

Unbolt the mufflers first and see what that does for you cause they simply unbolt rather that cutting out the one in the center that wouldn’t be fun to re install or just by the center h pipe and rear delete pipes from me they are easy to ship

remove the 2 resonators and the mid muffler. then either straight pipe it from there or install an x-pipe. WIll sound a lot better and keep the stock muffler. removing the stock rear mufflers sounds good at idle, but the moment you get on it sound like a straight pipped 350 chevy.

My car sounded nothing like a straight piped 350. It was definitely not as raspy and quieter trust me I have a straight pipe 350 for comparison
