I went to replace the front O2s. Realized it wasn't a 5 minute job, had to get my son up from his nap, plugged the one I unplugged back in, fired up the car and it was f...ed. Idling like it was down a few cylinders, reeked of raw fuel and almost died when I put in gear. I scanned with HPT and it looks like the sensor isn't even registering anymore. Anyone else ever had one die by just unplugging it? Car ran perfect no less than 10 minutes prior. It seems easier to just pull the whole manifold to replace these things
Thanks

Maybe a coincidence the sensor died, or terminals aren't making contact, I just changed my upstreams, a cut 7/8s wrench definitely was useful, I used the denso 234-4668, they were only $25 on Amazon

Re: Oxygen sensor is... Strange
Thx. I got the same ones. Good call I'll see if I have a 7/8 that can sacrifice for greater good. The one clip broke so I have to find a new one of those too...

They do make O2 sensor sockets, which are many times cheaper than a 7/8" deep socket. Don't forget to unplug the harness first. Sometimes spinning the wiring together will break connections.

Re: Oxygen sensor is... Strange
No doubt I have a few sockets. Its just that the space needed to actually spin the ratchet/wrench eludes me. I managed to somehow unclip the harness, which is potentially why I'm in this spot
The male clip actually broke, though I managed to not remove the plug. Its not even that one that is screwed, confirmed by HPT

Re: Oxygen sensor is... Strange
Can anyone recommend any cheap downstream O2 sensors that they've had luck with

Re: Oxygen sensor is... Strange
Deleted my rear O2s so i never replaced them but used denso sensors for the fronts with no issue. Have to imagine they would be fine for a downstream application (denso, not the same exact model sensor)
