exhaust picks

Post by cerbomark »

what do you all recommend for a slight upgrade to the PPV mufflers to add a little more sound but not loud or done prone?
$$ conscious too.
Thanks.

While I don't have a lot of miles on them, I have driven the car just about every way possible, around the neighborhood at ~30, down the highway at 70, and on an autocross course in sport mode, I don't find my exhaust to be much louder than the OEM system it replaced. I can tell when in 4-cyl mode more, but I'm not detecting any drone. Here's what I have:

Solo high flow G8 cats.
X-Force Varex exhaust.

The dual tips and stainless muffler look good, too.

Cut out the center suitcase and replace with straight pipes.... if you don't like that then go to either bullet type mufflers or a Magnaflow X flow which is just one muffler with x pipe inside.... If your mufflers are still decent thats the best sound vs. $$$ until you start replacing everything

Being from NY, the flex joints and bolts attaching the mufflers are probably about done. Watch those. The upper seam on the mufflers need watching, too. One of those seams on one muffler on our ‘12 9C1 was already leaking.

What s the sound like with the center suitcase out? Is that a resonator? That sounds easy.
