You are using the L99 camaro exhaust on this? I was just looking at a version from a LS3 manual car which has a different set of midpipes and doesn't use that giant suitcase looking resonator buy uses 2 bullet looking ones like the rear caprice ones.... see if i can find a pic

Yep, the L99. I was concerned with drone from the DoD of our cars. That suit case allows the left and right pulses to combine inside of it.

Yeah i was wondering if there was something else to that or if it was smaller diameter at all? I'm thinking of buying a LS3 setup and having a real x pipe welded into the front part of that along with the adapter section to the rear stock muffler joints.

Thanks for doing the pics

SS sedan has that now also would seem like it might be a bolt on even? Just need to come up with a way to wire it to a switch since theirs is tied to the sport/tour knob.

I decided I’d bring this one back from the dead.

Is there any rationale behind not just replacing all this with just two straight through pieces of pipe? I feel like some used Camaro mufflers and a couple pieces of 2.25 or 2.5 in pipe and that’d be an easy exhaust to fit up. Although I’d highly consider a H pipe on there somewhere.

After looking into it a little, and I’d have to actually take some measurements to be sure but it looks like you could probably delete the cleaner cats and the center muffler thing(in red below) with just the H-pipe kit and some clamps. H-pipe, 2 resonators and 2 mufflers might make for a decent exhaust. Although to keep the resonators you’d have to step down from 2.25 to 2 but I guess you need a coupler in there regardless

I just want the thing to sound like it has a V8 in it for as little money as possible for the time being.

Junkyard Jack,
This was my first attempt at better exhaust. My exhaust system has undergone three different designs. I have since installed a Camaro ZL1 exhaust. It is 2.5'" all of the way through. I installed an X pipe to gain the extra 7" of length. I am also running the Z28 LS7 tubular headers. Any thing that improves the flow is a good thing. I've been lucky to have the time to try different things. I believe that an X or H pipe needs to be as close the engine as possible to get the best performance.

Here's the link for the ZL1 exhaust:
