VVT or not?
Does anyone know if the 2013 Caprice L77 has the VVT or not? I am ordering the DOD Delete from Texas Speed tomorrow and picking up the Caprice I bought with the blown motor on Friday. I wanted to be sure I had all the right parts sitting on the ground ready to geaux!!
Who has the connection with KOOKS for the headers & exhaust?
Thanks for the help!!

Re: VVT or not?
Maryland speed seems to have decent prices. Haven't ever dealt with them, though.

I'm pretty sure it's DOD-only, no VVT.

I've got an uncoated set on the way from Maryland speed right now. Call direct and ask if they can do better than their website price (as it was just lowered when I mentioned the Brute Speed price). http://shop.brutespeed.com/Kooks-251024 ... evy-SS.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I take it you're planning on rebuilding the L77 then? Keep us posted on the cost and what you end up doing. I'm about to pull the trigger on a parts car to do a motor swap and move away from the L77, but I keep going back and forth depending on what's currently at auction.

Re: VVT or not?
I am leaving today to go pick up the car tomorrow... so if the block is still complete with no extra windows in it from their "Blown Motor" description... I will be rebuilding it with the Texas Speed DOD delete and the 225/230 - 617/612 - 114LSA cam and LS7 lifters with new springs and the LS3 hollow stem valves. This of course is the precursor for the twin turbo APS Kit (http://www.airpowersystems.com/g8/g8_itt.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).eagle-co94 wrote:I take it you're planning on rebuilding the L77 then? So stay Tuned!!
I did read somewhere else that HPTuners had capability to tune the Caprice but it is not listed on their website.
Re: VVT or not?
The HPTuners works well with the E38 pcm.
If you're planning on boosting it, have you looked at the wider LSA grinds? On N/A applications they sacrifice peak hp and tq but hold pressure when boosted. Daily driver car?
The ls9 cam 12638427 with a 1.8 rocker gives you over .600 lift and has nice manners at $120.00 from summit.

Re: VVT or not?
I have been under the impression that these engines do have VVT. I see if I can find where I read that....maybe the window sticker, im not sure.

Re: VVT or not?
I'm sorry. I was wrong. Maybe I was thinking about the L 76 but then again it's supposed to be a very similar engine to the L 77 I could've sworn I remember reading in GM high tech performance magazine that some of the L 76 engines in the G8 had some warranty issues with some type of cam phaser that was part I assume of the VVT system. I'll try to do my research before I post next time Sorry guys
