Magnuson Supercharger

Post by GTObert »

I have a couple questions for anyone who has a Magnuson.

Did you use the G8 GT kit? If so, how did the intercooler fit in the front of the car?

How does the included tuner work? Is it just software that rewrites your tune to a preset generic tune that will get you to a dyno or is it more comprehensive? If it is just a preset tune, was it designed for the G8 and how well did it work?

Thanks for any help.

My installer used parts specific to both G8 and Camaro kits. He ordered what he needed, and made it fit. It looks completely OEM. The intercooler fits in front of the radiator. It seems to work just fine. He also tuned my PPV on his DynoJet, and used HPtuners software. It was an in and out turnkey job. Car was there about three weeks.

He upgraded to a ten pound pulley, which he said was the safe maximum for a stock block application. He also upgraded the injectors.

The car has been extremely reliable, and of course, fairly fast.

It wasn't cheap, but it has been exactly as advertised, for my application.

That's awesome; it's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm interested in why you would need parts for a Camaro though. Since I plan to do the work myself and because I would need to have this done in a weekend I was really hoping to be able to order everything I need and put it together. The tuning and the fitment of the radiator portion of the intercooler are my main concerns. Not having a dyno in my garage is a real setback...

I don't know exactly what he used, but he did have to re-engineer some stuff. It wasn't much, though. He seemed to think it wasn't that hard, you could call and ask him. If you can get through the voice mail and answering service stuff!

Quarter and mph are in my sig, in cooler weather it will trap 120 plus. With a stall and slicks, it would drop pretty low into the elevens. Don't really want to do that, because I DD it on some long trips, and I already have one car with a big stall. No gear change in the works either, I don't need it.

My setup ran around 10k, and I am very pleased with it.
