GM uses a TORX-Plus bolt on their transmission bellhousings. I went through the same hassle you did. I kept twisting/breaking my regular Torx bit sets.

You were absolutely correct Maurice. I ordered a set of Torx Plus bits from Lislie and they were a perfect fit. The new bolts have been installed at the correct 18 ft pounds of torque. There was no way those old bolts were torqued to 18 ft pounds! I've never heard of Torx plus before this. Thanks!

John,
They were probably installed with loctite. A small, directed flame, applied to the head of the bolt will really help also. Glad to help out.

Definitely loctited, which is why everyone said to use heat. You can't physically torque a bolt of that size in aluminum to the point that it destroys bits upon removal. It's the loctite that made them hard to remove.
