What is this sensor?

Post by dorqus »

It's near the windshield wiper pump motor on the left hand side of the motor if you're looking at it head on, in between the wiper fluid reservoir and the radiator.
I was poking around there and came up with this sensor, not sure if it needs to be plugged into anything? Maybe it connects into the radiator?

This is from a 2011 Caprice PPV/L77 - Thanks!

I believe that is the ambient/external air temp sensor.

What does it get hooked up to? Can I just leave it loose? or does it clip into the AC condenser (or radiator?) somewhere?

it is supposed to be mounted/clipped into a hole , but all it measures is the outside temp and displays inside

OK thanks - happy to clip/mount it into the proper place, I looked online but can't seem to find a clear picture of where it needs to go. Checked various GM parts sites, etc. to no avail :(
I did confirm it's GM part number 9152245 for the record...

It mounts to the front clip/ radiator support. In the back you see some webbing in the plastic structure. There is a cavity that it fits into a a hole that those 3 clips snap into. There is another one on the other side of the car maybe you can see that one in there as a reference.

I think it is near the front crash sensors. that are also mounted in the front clip.

OK thanks @smwalker - I'll take a look see what I can see, for such a big car, there's still lots of stuff crammed together that makes it difficult to find.
