Lots of the G8 guys reported bad oil pressure sensors, but right below the pressure sensor is a filter screen inside a little puck that could get blocked on our high mileage units. Best bet is remove the sensor, clean the screen and get a fresh oil change and see if it makes any difference. If not then a new pressure sensor might be in order.

If you have a scanner to monitor the oil pressure that would be ideal.

Make sure and only get an ACDelco or GM sensor. Many reports of ones that were bad out of the box.

Let us know what works for you.

Some information for understanding the oil sysytem :

Under the description for the DOD it mentions the filter is replaceable.

To help control contamination within the active fuel management hydraulic system, a small replaceable oil filter (452) is located in the valve lifter oil manifold oil inlet passage. The oil pressure sensor (706) monitors engine oil pressure and provides information to the ECM.

But reading the description of the circuit it maybe your sensor has just given out.
