Engine Swap

Post by mook9304 »

Hi I was wondering if anyone has ever put in a LS376/525 LS3 6.2L 525HP Crate Engine, because I am looking to change out the engine in my 2013 Caprice? If anyone has any advice on this engine swap can you please help me with any details that it will involve! Thank you so much for all the information and help!

Agree just double check the oil pan style for clearance and that the engine uses a 54 tooth reluctor with newer Gen 4 style cam gear pickup location. Pull motor. Transfer motor mounts and accessories and have a beer.....well almost but close.

What state you in?

I am in CA and while we got the toughest standards not many inspectors could tell the difference between a 6.0 and a 6.2 because there really is none visually. As long as you keep the cats and O2 Sensors where the general put them you will be fine.

I am doing a LS3 swap and am going to go through the CA Referee program to get the proper "Engine Change" label. More just to see if I can get through the bureaucracy unscathed. I am probably a year away from that process though.

I know this an old dead thread, but did you or anybody ever end up swapping this LS376/525 in? My 2013 has a stuck lifter in cyl #8 and I'm looking at this crate as a quick swap. I don't have time to do it so if I'm paying a shop I'm thinking I may as well swap engines for the warranty since I'm getting quoted $4500 for a DOD delete anyway. Just curious if this engine would need different injectors, a new torque converter, or anything else that would complicate things and drive up the price?
