Engine Hours: how do I check them?

Post by Tansman »

I'm going to look at a 2012 Caprice with 21000 miles Thursday. For having such low miles I'm curious what the hours are. I want to know how to check for when I go look. Price is $16000 if anyone is curious. I thought it sounded like a great deal. The car looks perfect.

2005 Chevy tahoe- Cold air intake, everything else stock! (The family car)
2000 Honda civic Hatchback- lowered, rota slip wheels. (My daily)

the information will be in the owner's manual....the DIC (Driver Information Center) in center of IP will have options to select what displays, using the buttons on the steering wheel or possibly on My Link screen.

View manual and print appropriate pages in case there's no OM available.

The car wouldn't happen to be located near Wilmington, NC, would it? I looked at a black 2012 down there that had 19,000 miles on it a few months ago that "looked perfect." Turns out with a little digging that it had been involved in a major accident with all kinds of shady dealings by the seller trying to cover up it's past. Just wondering if it was the same car.

P.S., if it is that car, I'd run as fast and as far as possible. I did, but not before he heisted me out of couple hundred dollar deposit. I posted a thread on here in the for sale section about my experiences with it. I've also been running a counter ad on craigslist for quite some time. I just looked, he's got it back up for sale again, this time showing 21,000 miles, for $16k.

Feel free to PM me, I have pdf files of the accident history that I dug up still saved on the computer.

@Navy Lifer thanks for the manual. That was exactly what I needed. Now I'll be a little more prepared when I look at this car.

@cal30_sniper I PM'd you as I believe this is the same car.
