E85 and cold starts
E85 and cold starts
Browsing the forums here and I saw something about a "dreaded cold start noise" so far for the past week when I wake up in the morning to go to work and I go to start my car it has a pretty hard time kicking over. I originally thought this was just due to the fact that I've been running e85 since I got the car but now I'm getting a little worried after reading the post saying it could be a DOD problem. Any other opinions on this would be greatly appreciated
Re: E85 and cold starts
Can you define "hard time kicking over"?
Is it cranking slow, not cranking, cranking but not starting, or starting fine but with an engine noise?
Mine would just have a single "click" every once in a while then crank and start.
I replaced the starter and it cranks over and starts much faster than ever before.

Re: E85 and cold starts
Its not exactly cranking slow it just takes a lot more cranks to actually start. It reminds me of when you're starting an older car

That's usually the sign of a failing fuel pump. Get a fuel pressure gauge on it.
