Alright so giant update! The cam is in and the car is tuned!! Im going to work on adding photos and videos to the page.
New Era out of rochester did an awesome job with the car and it made quite a bit more power than I expected. For some reason the newest update of HPtuners wouldnt lock the car in 4th so he had to put in low and tune the car in 3rd. Despite battery issues (brand new battery kept dying) he got the car tuned, runs and drives great. I was expecting a bunch of drivability issues and so I havent had any problems. Now to the numbers. In third the car laid down 434hp and 393 Mike from New Era said he usually sees a difference of 30-40 wheel between 3rd and 4th gear pulls (4th being the right gear for dynoing our cars) So estimating on the low side Im thinking the car is good for 460 at the tires, which is much better than I was anticipating.

That's a healthy cam, broham! :)

Cam specs are 233/242 .629"/.629" 113+3

What other mods are you going to do? I'm assuming a pretty high stall converter, exhaust, etc.

Car has long tubes and tune. Currently on the lift in a friends garage getting dual 3" valtronic exhaust should be done this weekend I'll post another thread for that with some photos and sound clip. Going to build a intake for the car as well, looking into a ls7 card maf or switching to speed density. Talking to my tuner to see what he thinks.

As far as the converter goes in going to stay stock for now......... I've read that it's still drivable it's just useless to try and launch the car. For me that's not a big deal since it might see the track once a year.

A converter has to be experienced to be enjoyed. Our 96 SS is a bolt-on low-11sec car with a converter. It feels 'heavy' when driving around. But, when you really mat it, it comes quite alive. I can't tell you how many times I've come home with a smile on my face after going WOT with this car in traffic. It's a hoot!!

Since Bill / Navy life called me out in the exhaust thread... This is that teaser video. Hoping with the exhaust and cam. My car sounds just like this.
