That said, they can all kiss my @$$. Killed AFM a long time ago, and I run M1 0w-40...as I have in LS engines for a number of years. I don't care who likes 5w-30 M1, because that stuff shears down to a 20 weight in a short number of miles, and is just suspect to me (bobistheoilguy.com). So why 0w-40? It passes a few of the hardest oil standards in the world (the Mercedes-Benz below), and is in some good company. I think good, clean oil in the proper capacity means more than the brand, and usually the viscosity.


Specifications and approvals

Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 synthetic motor oil meets or exceeds the requirements of:
•API SN, SM, SL, SJ
•ACEA A3/B3, A3/B4

Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 has the following builder approvals:
•MB-Approval 229.3
•MB-Approval 229.5
•VW 502 00/505 00
•PORSCHE A40

According to ExxonMobil, Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 is of the following quality:
•API CF
•VW 503 01

I plan on swapping to Royal Purple at my first fluid change.. also a good reason to get the big 5 gallon flat plastic oil container too.. :D

8 quarts is a lot of fluid
