SEO 6N5

Does anyone know how to make the rear windows operate from the rear switches? I pulled the door panels and hooked up the cables but the switches were plugged in and the fuses have power. Is this a programming issue or something that can be done through the dim?

Looks like it is a programming thing at the dealership. Also looks like the dealers can only do it for authorized agencies?? Although this should have been programmed back to operational before the vehicle was disposed of by the agency.

Heh, yeah, that doesn't happen. Neither our '10 Tahoe nor our '12 Caprice have operating rear window switches. I even had to pop the door panels off and reattach the linkage to the back inside door handles on the Tahoe so the 'guest' in the back seat wasn't stuck there until someone let them out. I suspect I'll have to do the same in the Caprice, because the inside door latches don't work, either. The 'kid switch' in the door jamb is set to unlocked, so I know that's not it.

What happened to the good old days when all you had to do was plug in a connector to get the power windows working? Geeze. Welcome to 9C1 ownership in the 21st century.

That lasted until GM figured out they could gin up a little more profit with their service department and a Tech 2. OR... if they really want to get radical going through the official change process to disable DRL's by getting a software download to the dealership from GM Detroit (yes, there is actually a procedure GM has mandated following if you want DRL's disabled... so they can hook you for a few more bucks!).

It's all about the dollar and "servicing" the customer nowdays.... :)

That and asking all shifts on the assembly line to NOT connect the rear door latches, rear door lock cables AND power window connector at the same time would probably make their skulls explode!

On my 2011 9C3 I can disable the DRL's by turning the headlight switch to the left. The DRL's stay off until the next time the car is started. Neat feature that I never use. :-)

Our '12 doesn't have the DRLs. Not sure I want to enable them, either. Since everyone else on the road pretty much has them, a car WITHOUT them is the 'visible' one. :-)

Our 02 GMC has a feature where you can turn the DRLs off, but as you say, I never use it. Maybe I should have, as running the DRLS lights all the time the truck is running made the light sockets brittle due to the heat the light put out. I put LEDS there about a year ago, and would do it again if we had a new cat with that feature.

Here I am 1am, and after reading this thread I just had to go and check it on my car, curiosity wouldn't let me sleep - so apparently DRL and rear window switches work just fine on my unit.
